Bring the museum home with this stunning self portrait of Frida Kahlo created in 1933. This painting was painted when Frida was still in Detroit. She recovered slowly from her miscarriage and started to paint again. In this self-portrait, she was wearing a piece of pre-Columbian jewelry. Frida as a collection of many of this kind of jewelry and this one is made of jade beads. She seems to overcome her unhappiness from the miscarriage and looks fresh and attractive. She expressed greater self-confidence compared to her previous self-portraits. And in this painting for the first time, she depicted herself with a shadow of a mustache.

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Inspired by the country's popular culture, she employed a naive folk art style to explore questions of identity, post-colonialism, gender, class and race in Mexican society. She is known for painting about her experience of chronic pain. Khalo was disabled by Polio as a child which caused her lifelong pain and medical problems. 

This image is pixelated (not blurry) as seen in the image and is, as a result, extremely easy to paint in to and extend the colour to any that you desire.
